The fuel policy used at AP Rent a Car is FULL - FULL, that is, the vehicle is delivered to the customer with a full tank, and upon return it must have the same level.
The customer will be charged for missing fuel and will also have an associated refueling fee.
The deductible is the maximum amount that the customer is responsible for paying in the event of new damage caused to the rental vehicle. If the cost of the damage exceeds the deductible amount, AP Rent a Car will cover the amount exceeding the deductible. Example: If the deductible for bodywork damage is €1,100 and you cause damage to the bodywork that costs €2,700 to repair, you will only pay €1,100 and AP Rent a Car will cover the difference of €1,600.
You will need to leave a deposit for the vehicle to cover any costs or damages during the rental period.
By taking out additional All Risk Insurance (SCDW) coverage, you will reduce the security deposit. Its price and payment methods: - The value depends on the vehicle category. - Your bank card must have sufficient funds to cover the rental and security deposit amounts. - If you use a debit card, the amount will be debited from your bank account. If you use a credit card, the amount will be blocked in your bank account and will be unavailable during the rental period. - If you use a credit card, the deductible amount will be blocked at the beginning and, if you are not charged additional fees or minor damages, we will release the blocked amount at the end of the period (please note that this blocked amount may disappear from the bank statement without notification to the cardholder by the bank). - No other means of payment for the franchise (security deposit) is accepted.
When booking through third party partners: ATTENTION: if you have contracted additional coverage with third party partners (Rentalcars, Booking.com, RentCars, etc.) or if you have insurance with your bank card, you will have to pay the amount due to AP Rent a Car and then request reimbursement from the third party that insures you in case of damage. The terms and conditions of these coverages and insurances are those communicated on the third party's website.
The deposit is the maximum amount that the customer is responsible for paying in situations where the rented vehicle is returned with a lower fuel level than when picked up, or in situations where the interior of the vehicle has new damage or is dirty.
This amount will only be charged to the customer in the event of any of these situations.
The customer may cancel their reservation up to 48 hours before the pick-up date and receive a full refund of the amount paid.
After this period you may eventually cancel the reservation, but no refund will be made.
If you are over 19 years old and have had your driving license for at least 1 year, you can rent a vehicle from AP Rent a Car.
Please note that there may be a daily supplement until you reach 25 years of age or if you have had your driving license for less than 4 years. This fee is paid directly at the station when picking up the vehicle.
Note: this applies to all drivers included in the contract.
The only people authorized to drive the vehicle are those included as the main or additional driver in the rental contract.
If you wish to add a driver during your trip, you must go to the nearest office and include that person in the contract. The new driver must also come to the office with their valid driver's license and identification document.
Our coverage will not cover incidents caused by an unauthorized driver.
In the event of an accident, you should contact the authorities, fill out the friendly declaration with all the information requested there and then inform AP Rent a Car of what happened.
Article 10 of Regional Legislative Decree No. 7/2025/M
1 - A usage fee of 2 euros per full day is due for each rented vehicle, up to a limit of 10 days, as compensation for the pressure exerted by the aforementioned sector on sustainable mobility in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), in strict compliance with the rules defined in the Political-Administrative Statute of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
2 - The fee referred to in the previous paragraph is intended to finance policies for the regulation and supervision of the land transport sector, namely the adoption of measures aimed at the organization and discipline of traffic, in order to promote the efficiency of available resources, as well as the impact of these on the decarbonization targets defined by the competent authorities, thus complying with the principle of sustainable management of terrestrial biodiversity and geodiversity.
3 - The fee referred to in paragraph 1 must also be used to finance actions necessary for the protection, conservation and recovery of forest ecosystems, as well as for the implementation and monitoring of nature management, protection and conservation plans.
